KANGRA HERITAGE ULTRA MARATHON, KANGRA, HIMACHAL PRADESH, #KHU2024

Welcome to the Kangra Hills Ultra Marathon! The Kangra Valley is a river valley situated in the Western Himalayas within the state of Himachal Pradesh. The valley, filled with numerous perennial streams along with the River Beas, will not fail to provide the participants with spectacular views as they traverse the race route. In March, when the weather is every athlete’s dream with clear skies and a light breeze wafting through your face, we invite you to take part in an event that is sure to leave you wanting more.

The beauty of the scenic views in the valley paired with its rich cultural history is an enriching experience for both the mind and the body. With the event kicking off at the Kangra Fort, the participants will witness the grandiosity of the structure built by the royal Rajput family of the Katoch Dynasty. The participants, according to the categories they’re participating in, will be able to witness the Bagalamukhi Temple built by the Pandavas and the Masrur Temples; which is an early 8th-century complex of rock-cut Hindu temples.

The heritage that lies amid the picturesque valley is only deepened with the presence of the Bajreshwari Mata Temple, which is one of the 51 Shakti Pithas dedicated to the goddess Vajreshvari, a form of Goddess Durga. The legend goes that Goddess Sati sacrificed herself in honor of Lord Shiva in her father's Yagya. Shiva took her body on his shoulder and started Tandav. In order to stop him from destroying the world Lord Vishnu divided the body of Sati into 51 parts with his Chakra. The left breast of Sati fell at this spot, thus making it a Shakti Peetha. Kangra Valley is also where Guler Village is situated, which was home to the famous Sanskrit and Pali scholar; Chandradhar Sharma Guleri who penned down “Usne Kaha Tha”, one of his most celebrated novels.

This race is suitable for both experienced ultra runners and first-timers looking for a new challenge and wanting to dive head-first into a journey steeped with culture and heritage. The course is well-marked, and the support team will be on hand to provide aid and assistance at regular intervals throughout the race.

ULTRA

• 100 KM: 5 AM, INTERMEDIARY CUT OFF: 50 KM in 10 HOURS, CUT OFF2: 100 KM in 20 HOURS
• 75 KM: 5 AM, INTERMEDIARY CUT OFF: 50 KM in 10 HOURS, CUT OFF2: 75 KM in 14 HOURS
• 50 KM: 5.30 AM, CUT OFF: 50 KM in 10 HOURS
• 25 KM: 5.30 AM, CUT OFF: 25 KM in 4 HOURS

FUN RUN

• 5 KM: 7:00 AM

Race Start Time: 5 AM, Sunday, 10th March 2024

Mandatory Gears: Hydration Bag, Running gear per winter, and Headlight for 75 & 100 km runners

Inclusions: Race BIB, Race T-shirt, Finisher Trophies / Medal, Certificate, Stationary and Mobile Aid Stations providing water/hydration and medical support, Refreshment

Hydration/ Water Stations: Every 8 km providing an option for refueling to participants, the Hydration station would have water bottles, energy drinks, bananas, oranges, dates, and chocolate bars. 

Exclusions: Any personal expenses or not included in Inclusion.

Cancellation Policy:

• Upto 45 Days BEFORE the event: Refunds allowed against cancellation: Deductibles- Payment Gateway fees, Applicable Taxes, and INR 100 platform usage fees
• 45 - 20 Days BEFORE the event: Refunds allowed against cancellation: Deductibles- Payment Gateway fees, Applicable Taxes, and INR 500 platform usage fees
• LESS THAN 20 Days BEFORE the event: No cancellation allowed.
